Fort Bull and Fort Williams

Rome, New York

A large stone marker in Rome, NY (at west end of the portage) marks the site of Fort Bull, which was built midway between Oswego and Schenectady. It was attacked by the French in 1756. Fort Bull is also part of the Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor. Fort Williams was destroyed by the British in 1756.
