Fort Necessity National Battlefield

Description

Physical Description

Farmington, Pennsylvania Fort Necessity, the only national park on a French and Indian War battlefield, features living history programs presented by park rangers in authentic costumes at the site of the simple wooden stockade that Washington troops built as "a fort of necessity." It was here that Washington fought the opening battle in the French and Indian War and surrendered for the first and only time in his career.
